Lucario Empty
PostSubject: Lucario   Lucario EmptyWed Mar 05, 2008 8:33 am

Ok seeing as it hasn't been done before, i'll post it now. I'll give the most common standard sets (specsluke and the swords dancer), and a few made by me.

SpecsLuke Cort3z
Lucario @ Choice Specs
Lucario Dpmfa448
Modest
6 hp, 252 sp atk, 252 spd

Aura Sphere
Dark Pulse
Dragon Pulse
Vacuum Wave/Psychic

Use great power, coverage and typing to switch in on attacks, and hit the switch in hard. Especially since you can 2HKO blissey with a modest aura sphere. I suggest using modest if you go for vacuum wave, as it makes up for it's fairly average speed. , and timid if you go for psychic and more coverage (fight, dark and psychic hit everything for neutral iirc). Dragon pulse is for dragons, as the name suggests.

Spiritomb is great as it normally has pretty good sp def, and is immune to psychic/vacuum wave and aura sphere. Flying types with good defense are also pretty good, so that would be bulky gyara or togekiss. Generally anything which isn't weak to its attacks, and is bulky enough should fare well.

Physicalsweep LukeCort3z
Lucario @ Life orb
Lucario Dpmfa448
Adamant
6 hp, 252 atk, 252 spd

Close Combat
Swords Dance
Crunch/Stone Edge
Extreme speed

Uses its great typing to switch in on something it can resist, swords dance on the switch, then beat up physical walls with an immensly strong CC, faster sweepers with extreme speed, and ghosts and psychics with crunch

1 word: Gliscor. Resists CC, has great physical defence, and can hit back with a strong earthquake. Hippowdon and Weezing do pretty well too, one having pretty legendary defence, the other resisting CC. Still, the hippo is 2HKO'd by a swords danced CC, and Weezing doesn't have the greatest hp.

MixedLuke Variation 1 Cort3z
Lucario @ Life orb
Lucario Dpmfa448
Hasty/Naive
130 atk, 128 sp atk, 252 spd

Aura sphere
Dragon Pulse
Crunch
Blaze Kick

MixedLuke no. 1 that is designed more for taking down physical walls than special ones. Aura sphere is the main attack, Dragon pulse for dragons, crunch for cresselia and dusknoir, and blaze kick for bronzong, skarmory and forretress.

Spiritomb once again is pretty good, having Will-o-Wisp to lessen the damage of Crunch and blaze kick, an immunity to Aura sphere, and not taking too much damage from dragon pulse. Bulky waters with good special defence also far well, such as suicune, milotic and swampert. Blissey doesn't do too bad, due to having good hp, can still take a physical hit, and having tons of special defence to absorb aura sphere and dragon pulse

MixedLuke Variation 2 Cort3z
Lucario @Life orb
Lucario Dpmfa448
Hasty/Naive
130 atk, 128 sp atk, 252 spd

Close Combat
Crunch
Psychic
Dragon Pulse/Extreme speed

MixedLuke no. 2 that is better at taking down special walls than physical ones. Close combat OHKO's blissey and snorlax, crunch for hitting dusknoir and cresselia, and psychic rounds off the type coverage set. This functions in a similar way to choice band gallade, except that it has the luxury of being able to switch attacks whilst still having pretty good power. Dragon pulse hits dragons. (getting a bit repetitive, eh?Wink ) Extremespeed on the other hand hits weaknened faster sweepers.

Once again, spiritomb. Skarmory and bronzong are pretty good, as they have good defence, resist psychic and dragon pulse, and skarmory resits crunch too.

Hope you like it everyone! Very Happy I particularly like using Lucario, it's powerful and unpredictable at the same time, especially with the mixed sets.

Lucario Empty
PostSubject: Re: Lucario   Lucario EmptyThu Mar 06, 2008 6:00 pm

The Specs set s pretty standard. Don't bother with a Timid nature though, as the power's more important. Also, consider Shadow Ball over Dark Pulse for better type coverage. Not really sure what Psychic is doing there, as it really only hits enemy Fighing types, mainly Heracross.

On the SD set, put Stone Edge as an option over Crunch. The latter hits Cresselia and Dusknoir, while Stone Edge covers flyers and still slaughtering Gengar.

The mixed sets aren't really worthwhile on Lucario to be honest, so don't bother with them. The closest it comes to being to break walls is that it can run a special set, but still scare Blissey with Close Combat. It's not really threatening Cresselia, Dusknoir, Suicune or Skarmory any time soon though on a mixed set. Observe:

Cresselia gets 4HKOd by Shadow Ball, even with no Sp. DEF EVs. She can Thunder Wave Lucario, then Charge Beam / Moonlight him to death with relative ease.

Dusknoir gets 3HKOed by max Sp. ATK Shadow Ball with Leftovers recovery, while an EQ does 81% back to Lucario, preventing him from attacking again without killing himself.

Suicune is 3HKOd by Close Combat, but it drops Lucario's defenses enough to let Surf 2HKO it, though after the first one it won't be able to make a third attack without killing itself. Psychic is a 4HKO without any Sp. DEF EVs.

Skarmory is 3HKOd by Close Combat, but can easily stall and kill with Drill Peck / Roost for an easy kill.

Hence, Lucario is really incapable of bringing down some of the biggest walls in the game, which is why it shouldn't be used as a mixed sweeper.
