I've also noticed a fair few sets from the past Metagame Analysis have gone missing.

They were fillers.

As far as I understand, all submissions to HGtP will be completely new ones - with possible recycled imformation from old entries.

As it stands, your submission will probably be posted in a separate thread on the boards, and discussed/refined.

How do we get back to the main site from the forum, by the way? Without retyping it into the address bar I mean.

Clicking the 'home' button to the top right of the pages here will take you to the forum base page.

Clicking on the 'portal' button next to it will take you to that blog-like page.
